Branding Ads are the most simplistic and common type of web advertisement. These are the ads that you normally find at the top of most web pages. Branding Ads serve the purpose of simply getting your company name or message out into the world for people to see. Direct Sales Ads are similar to that of Branding Ads except that they have a slightly different purpose. Both types of ads share the purpose of promoting your company name however, Direct Sales Ads are ads that try to get the viewer to take an immediate action as they view the ad such as: view the company's website, purchase a product, or subscribe to something. These types of Banner Advertisements are created in a moderately simplistic design but are more in depth then that of a simple Branding Ad. The goal is to not only grab the viewer's attention but also to get them to take an interest in what you have to say and respond to that interest.

- A tall sidebar ad is two to three times larger than a banner ad.
- You cannot scroll a sidebar ad off the screen like you can a banner ad. With a banner ad, you can scroll just 60 pixels down and the ad is gone. With a sidebar ad, the ad is with you much longer.
For these aforementioned reasons and more, sidebar ads tend to attract more viewers to its content.

They are also one of the few types of advertising that DO NOT go unnoticed as they appear when the user visits the web page (unless of course the user had a pop-up blocker enabled.) One benefit to Pop-Up Ads is that they can be larger in size because they have their own window and are not constrained to a specific size.
